Is the 200gr core-lokt from a 350 rem mag tough enough for elk?

I am looking to get good velocity and I hear the longer bullets intrude too much into the powder space for this short cartridge. I think I can push 3000fps with the 200′s. I am looking to save a little money over the TSX’s. Thanks.

There is a 350 remington mag. It is just not a popular cartridge. Remington produced them in their Model 600 and 660 as well as the model 700. Ruger produced it in their M77.

I’m sure a 200 grain Core-lokt would be fine. From glance at a reloading manual I would be surprised if you were pushing 3000 fps. You might want to run those over a chronograph. If you are going that fast you might have excess pressure.

The one manual I grabbed showed a max load for a 180 grain at 2900 fps. It is an old manual and not quite as conservative as the current ones. Be careful.
